Social-Emotional Learning Professional Development for California Schools

California schools are under real pressure to build social-emotional learning into daily practice — not as an add-on, but as infrastructure. SB 224's mental health instruction requirements, the state's CYBHI behavioral health investment, and LCAP reporting expectations all point the same direction: districts need SEL that's practical, CASEL-aligned, and something teachers can actually use on a Tuesday afternoon, not just talk about at a kickoff assembly.

That's what SEL Academy does. We've built our professional development, coaching, and classroom tools around the five CASEL competencies — self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making — with an MTSS Tier 1 lens that fits how California schools are already structuring behavior and climate support.

We started in Butte County — Chico, Oroville, Gridley, Durham — and we're expanding across California, region by region, working directly with district leaders, site administrators, and classroom teachers who want SEL training that holds up in a real classroom, not just a slide deck.

What we offer California districts and schools

  • On-site and virtual keynotes and workshops for staff PD days
  • Full-day and half-day professional development training, CASEL-aligned and MTSS Tier 1-focused
  • Ongoing coaching and multi-session district partnerships
  • Free classroom tools (SEL self-assessment, daily check-in, resilience game, and more) your staff can start using immediately, no login required

Whether you're a single school site in the North State or a district team looking at a countywide rollout, we'll build the session around your actual staff, students, and constraints — not a one-size-fits-all script.
